Instruktori.hr

Instruktori.hr is a personal project I designed, built, and ran end-to-end. This means starting from the database schema, to development and deployment, and finally marketing. Tutors could sign up, create personalised ads with their qualifications, experience, and pricing. Students could search and filter by subject, location, and price.

The stack included NestJS backend with TypeORM and PostgreSQL, a Next.js frontend, file uploads via AWS S3, and deployment on AWS. At its peak the platform had over 300 registered tutors and more than 250 active ads.

As a platform which needs two sides of users to function properly, it had that classic cold-start problem built into its foundation: you need tutors to attract students, and you need students to attract tutors. Neither side has a reason to show up until the other already has.

The project is paused due to limited time and resources. But it taught me some things that most professional work cannot: what it means to be responsible for every layer at once, how to prioritise when you're the only engineer, and how quickly user trust erodes when you don't iterate fast enough.

It might come back someday in a new form.
